Internal Conflict-

Graphic design poster,
Adobe Illustrator, Procreate
(AD 303)

Internal Conflict is a triptych poster series inspired by the struggle of mental illness. On the left poster, the viewer sees an image of a brain made up of typography; this poster is meant to represent mental illness. Then on the right is a poster of a heart also made up of typography that is to represent my soul, desires, and who I am. Then, in the middle, a human figure floats between the conflict of what the heart and brain are fighting for. This represents how my mental illness is not myself; it is a voice in my head telling me what to do. I want people with similar struggles to see this piece and feel seen. I took a lot of inspiration from Craig Ward and how he plays with typography, making type fade in and out and breaking it up. He turns the words into more than just letters, but instead a visually interesting imagery. Designing in Illustrator and Procreate allowed me to create using both typography and images I drew.

Behind the scenes

This project was inspired by this journal spread. It was made in a time I was really struggling with mental illnesses. My brain was telling me things in my heart I knew I did not believe. I really wanted to showcase the scary, isolating nature of mental illnesses because I know I am not alone in my experience. I want people to feel seen when they look at my art. These journal spread was never meant to be seen, It was made with the intetion of getting my thoughts and feelings on paper, but I relized how valuable it could be for someone else to feel heard.
